Custom Wall Constellation | Made to Order

Commission a constellation for your own wall.

Each one is built from organic porcelain forms, each hand-formed, individually glazed and taken through a multi-stage reduction luster firing. The intricacies of that process mean no two surfaces come out the same, so your constellation will be entirely its own.

We start with your wall. Send me the dimensions of the space and a photo, and I will map a layout designed to fit it.

In-glaze luster is not a controllable material, and that is exactly why I work with it. What I can tell you is that your constellation will be colorful, with a mix of gold, copper and other iridescent color running through it. What I cannot tell you is precisely which colors will land on which form. That is decided in the kiln, and it is the reason no two constellations will ever be alike. What I can promise is that the finished piece will be balanced, considered, and made for your space specifically.

Sizes

Order one of the three sizes below directly, or ask me for any number of forms you like.

• Small, 9 forms
• Medium, 16 forms
• Large, 25 forms

Individual forms vary in size, generally between 3 and 6 inches across. Overall dimensions depend entirely on how the constellation is arranged. Spacing can be opened up or tightened, and the forms can be laid out in any configuration, so the same number of pieces can fill a narrow space or spread across a wide one. That is part of what I work out with you.

How it works

1. Place your order (or get in touch for a custom size) and send me your wall dimensions and a photo of the space.
2. I send you a proposed layout map for your approval.
3. I make and fire your pieces. Current lead time is approximately 2 months from the date the layout is approved, and often sooner depending on my studio schedule.
4. Your constellation ships with a printed layout map and hanging instructions.

Each form has a small hook on the back and hangs on an angled nail or a standard picture hook. No special hardware needed.

Please note

Commissioned work is made specifically for you and is not eligible for return or exchange. Because luster is unpredictable by nature, the finished colors will not match any photograph exactly, and that variation is what makes the piece one of a kind.
